Peter George leads private sector engagement at the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves in his capacity as its Director of Enterprise Development and Investment. As an investment professional specialized in the energy sector, he has held a number of positions investing in and advising energy businesses, ranging from publicly-held oil and gas companies and renewable energy developers in the United States, to SMEs providing off-grid energy solutions in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Before joining the Alliance, he created and led an SME advisory division at Energy4Impact (E4I) (formerly GVEP International), a donor-funded strategy and investment advisory organization focused on off-grid and distributed energy solutions in Africa. Prior to E4I, he was an investment professional for ArcLight Capital Partners, a leading Boston-based energy-focused private equity firm with more than $10B under management. Peter started his career in the investment banking group at Merrill Lynch, where he focused on energy sector transactions. He earned his Bachelors of Business Administration with a finance specialization from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
